Ticking another one off the list

I really like the way this one came out.  I think it’s because I’ve been drawing a lot of comics lately and have become aware of things like line weight and different methods for creating depth in this art style.  This piece was a good way to practice that, with The Tick and the things attacking him in the foreground, Arthur in the middle ground, and a crazy background with tons of things happening.  This one was a total joy to do.  Sad to see it go.  Onward!

Background Madness

There is a lot of craziness going on in the background of this.  People, creatures, flowers, all sorts of insanity.  It looks kind of like my dream from last night, if you could mix a healthy dose of work anxiety in it.  After I get that bottom left corner filled in, I’ll probably go back and straighten up the background a bit, give it a little more zip.  Here’s where we stand:

I just realized…

I just realized I forget to post my last work-in-progress post for The Tick so I’ll combine that post and this post together.  It’s coming along and I have pretty much finished the main figure.  I’ve also sort of cracked how I’m going to do the background technique-wise and more importantly, which marker I’m going to use for it.  It’s tough because the background is all gray and really sits behind the foreground, making it a real challenge of how to pull that off.  Here’s how it is going so far…
