Little boxes made of ticky tacky

I endured a lot of tedium doing the stipling on the background of that Marvin Martian piece, to the point of annoyance.  This time I opted to go completely the opposite direction.  I wanted to get back to a classic artist, with clean lines, simple, iconic, and colorful, if possible.  Then it came to me when I saw this artist’s work used a print for a girl’s dress at Target.  Mondrian.  He’d be perfect.  I’d get all those things I was looking for plus the added bonus of likely being able to finish it fast.  Winner winner chicken dinner.  Setting up the lines took longer than the color.  This one took less than two weeks, a nice change from 2 months.

  1. Nice. I grew up with a wall covered in a brilliant Mondrian wallpaper, mostly blues and greens, in the dining room of my home. Still have an affinity for it, though of course all our own walls are unpapered, and painted white. Thanks for the opportunity to remember it!
